TaXcel32: stay-on-top Sales Tax Calculator, v1.0, for 32-bit Windows provides quick and accurate calculations of sales tax on currency amounts, along with an indication of grand totals. It remains on-screen, in front of ("stay-on-top") other applications and windows for ready access. The small calculation window that is visible can be moved or minimized. Its moveable on-screen position is recalled from session to session to appear in the same place it was last utilized. After an initial entry of the sales tax rate, taXcel defaults to the last-used rate for each session until changed again by the user.
Users of other sales tax calculation methods on personal computers are often aware that some calculations, including those made with spreadsheet applications or business forms programs, provide incorrect rounding methods which can result in small but inaccurate results. For example, improper rounding of a 10% sales tax rate on $14.95 in many such calculations will yield a result of $1.49 as the tax amount with a final total of $16.44. Managers of common retail usage, as well as tax charts, will acknowledge that the proper tax should be $1.50 (by rounding upwards) with a final total of $16.45. taXcel will always attempt to provide upwards-rounding amounts and final totals so that the indicated tax collectable adequately covers the transaction.
The registered version activates the stay-on-top capability, the calendar feature, and system information provision; it also recalls from session to session the last taXcel screen position and the last-utilized tax rate.
